Mack loves Papa and Pop(sicles)!

While we were at the Boise rib fest Papa bought Mack a giant popsicle.

I was definitely worried about stains, but luckily his shirt came clean!

Shorts for my Shorty

For Spring Kids Clothes Week back in April, I cut into some absolutely darling black and white gingham. I wanted to make Mack some shorts using this pattern.
Well, now it's July, but they're done! And super cute! A big thank you to Caila Made for the free pattern!
I did make a slight modification, and put the elastic in the back only. So they have a flat front with a button, rather than elastic all the way around. This probably emphasized my sizing problem, but I like the flat front look.

Mack has a little duck tail. They are still a bit big, even after I decided to cut out the 18 month size.

My silly boy would not put down his sandwich for the photo shoot.

Seriously cute, and park tested!

Found some older pictures of Mack

It's amazing to me how much he has grown up, even just since we moved in March.

His room still ends up looking like this almost every day.

I love my little 2 year old!

Just Like Daddy

Nathan was re-winding his reels last night. Mack picked up one of the rods and started waving it around. Thus began the cutest fishing lesson ever!

Just you wait Mack, next year your birthday present is going to be a fishing rod!

Our little monkey got bonked on the head

Friday night Nathan took Mack up to our ward's fathers and sons campout. Mack was so excited! He loves camping.
The sad part of the story is that I got a call from Nathan around 10 letting me know that he and Mack were coming home so that we could take Mack to the emergency room. Definitely not the sort of call any mother wants (and especially not a pregnant mother who was looking forward to sleeping in)!
Mack's head had been patched up pretty well by our EMT neighbor, but he thought the cut might need stitches so we figured we'd play it safe and take him to the ER.
Luckily, the cut wasn't too bad, and he didn't have a concussion. All they did was put some medical glue on it and send us home.
The first picture is Mack the night it happened. His shirt says, "it seemed like a good idea at the time."

We still don't know what exactly happened. Something involving another small child and a metal bat. But we're so grateful that Mackay is alright. And I'm sure when he's a teenager all the girls will love his 'Harry Potter scar'.

This is Mack today. I'm so proud of him. He barely cried while they fixed him up.

A close up of the owie. Mack has been really good about ignoring it. We have to leave the glue on for five days.
He was a little stunned, but such a good boy through the whole ordeal.

A Brief Mack Update.

Our little boy is a ham. He always has been. He's silly. He throws huge tantrums. He loves his daddy, and runs to the door whenever he hears the downstairs neighbors close or open their door. He likes to watch Phineas and Ferb and Little Einsteins. He is terrified of vacuums, and my hair dryer. He definitely doesn't like loud noises. He does love getting his picture taken.
Here he's pretending to take my picture (I think).

He always yells, "cheese!" when I pull out the camera.

Mack and Charlie. They look like I caught them being bad. We say it all the time, but they really are best friends and worst enemies. They fight over everything, but have fun playing. Hardly a day goes by that Mack doesn't ask for Charlie.

He's so handsome with his haircut!

More to come. I have several projects in the works, and lots of homework as the semester wraps up. You'll be seeing a lot more of me after May 10th.

Macaroni and Tomato

I am not a chef. I don't really enjoy cooking. Baking is okay, but often I end up with burnt cookies and hideous cakes.
Though we did realize recently that the top heating element in our oven isn't working. So maybe all those burnt cookies weren't my fault.

Baby Maegen eating macaroni and tomato circa 1991

This is a Rydalch family recipe. In fact, my aunt Katie made macaroni and tomato the same night I did!
Macaroni with tomato soup, it's yummy, and easy, and babies love it. Husbands don't necessarily love it-- mine doesn't-- but it's a great to make for lunch when he can't come home, or dinner when he's out fishing late.

Here's the recipe, and it's insanely easy.

Ingredients:
elbow macaroni
tomato soup
milk

Directions:

1) Cook your macaroni according to instructions and drain. I'm not going to specify an amount. I usually eyeball about 2 cups for a pretty even ratio, but some people will like more soup and some will like more noodle.
2) Add one can of tomato soup, and one can of milk. (I never use water to make tomato soup, but if you prefer it that way, you could probably substitute water)
3) Stir and serve.

3 ingredients, 3 steps.
Super delicious in the 90's,

Still delicious 22 years later!

As you may have noticed, I strip Mack down to feed him.

And he's eating out of tupperware because these are actually the leftovers, and he's having them for lunch. Why dirty an extra dish?

Chances are, you'll have to bathe your child after this scrumptious meal.

Photo Shoot

We have a really nice camera. I don't have a clue how to use it, other than just basic stuff. But I still try to practice with it, so someday I can be better and take fabulous pictures. For now, they're just okay, and I'm lucky I have a super cute model to make up for my lack of skill.

Mack is wearing some of his favorite things in these pictures. His converse, and his favorite blue jacket. Somehow we ended up with two identical jackets, which is great.

Easter

Easter was pretty good this year, though it really seemed to sneak up on me, and I was completely unprepared! Mack's Easter tie was made Easter morning while Nathan was getting ready and Grandpa Foster walked with Mack over to Tony and Angie's. I used this tutorial again, like I did for his Valentine's and St. Patrick's ties.

Isn't the grass just lovely?

His cute little vest finally fits. He's wearing size 24 month clothes, and the vest says it's size 6-9 months... I think they may have mislabeled it.

Unfortunately, Nathan didn't get any really good pictures of the tie. Mack is also wearing the pants I made for his Doctor Love outfit.

Can you find the egg in this picture? Carson and Alaina sure couldn't, so I showed Mack where it was.

Little Helper

Mack has actually been really helpful with moving and settling into our new place. Last week Nathan set up the twin bed in our spare room and Mack rushed to the toolbox and pulled out a wrench so he could help.
